Having Fun, On and Off the Clock

It takes a lot of sweat and tears to make award-winning work. But we also know that it takes a lot of fun to balance it out. Here is a section devoted to those things that keep us moving forward and make the hard work worth it.

What’s going on in Kevin’s head?

Posted on April 24th, by Scott in PLAY. Comments Off

Occasionally, and I really mean occasionally, our art director, Kevin Forister thinks about something besides advertising. Check out this piece he made last week that he calls “A Robot’s Best Friend.”

There’s probably some deeper message going on here about interpersonal relationships in our cyborg-driven society but Kevin would not speak to these claims. Until he does, we’re left to guessing, WHAT DOES IT MEAN?????

Make sure to check out the rest of Kevin’s design work on his website.

Dogs + Technology: A Screamer Co. Brand-storm

Posted on April 4th, by Scott in PLAY. Comments Off

On March 21st we helped our client, Brookfield Residential host the Greater Austin HBA Crawfish Boil at Blanco Vista, one of their master-planned communities. As both planners and sponsors for the event, we wanted to leave a lasting impression.

An ad agency with a sponsorship booth? We had to figure out a way to show the attendees just what we do. Ultimately, we decided that we would highlight our branding abilities. We would brainstorm, concept and develop a brand on the spot.

The challenge: Develop a company concept, name and logo based on two random words.

The two words that we picked out of the hat were “dog“ and “technology.” From there we made a word association list with the help of Crawfish Boil attendees.

From our list, we started thinking about what these brands would do. After deliberating with our team and the crowd … Read More »

We’re going to the ADDYs

Posted on February 27th, by Scott Creamer in PLAY. Comments Off

Tomorrow we are going to the Austin ADDYs at the brand new Brazos Hall downtown. Our fingers are crossed and suits are pressed (not really, Scott told us to dress casual) and we plan to have a lot of fun mingling with other ad-types. We hope to come home with some hardware but even if we don’t there is an open bar so really, everyone is a winner.

Wish us luck.

Here’s to landing new clients

On Friday we closed the office early and went to celebrate new business.  Bangers is a great beer garden and restaurant on Rainey street, and everyone had a chance to try out a few different brews.  We talked Sci-Fi films and debated our picks for this year’s best picture and almost convinced Kevin to try a pickle spear.

We have new team members

We’ve been busy lately (would you believe?), but wanted to post a picture of our new team members in 2013.  Say hello to Andrea (account manager), Kevin (art director) and Damon (interactive designer) seen here posing in front of our new art wall, which is also a new team member of sorts.

Putt-Putt Happy Hour

Posted on August 28th, by Stephanie in PLAY. Comments Off

Last Thursday the Scream Team (and associates!) decided to start some hijinks and the links at Peter Pan Mini Golf. What started as an honest attempt to respect the hallowed institution of golf quickly devolved into a frustrating trek through a deceptively difficult course with a very masculine looking fairy. The scorecard was lost (ahem: deliberately misplaced) around the ninth hole and there was no victor; only losers.

However, nothing helps the spirt recover from defeat better than Torchy’s Tacos at the construction site for Scott and Tim’s new home.

Hot day, cold brews… it’s how we like it. Who needs shade?? Well maybe Dan, but a good dose of vitamin D is always good.

SIX PARTY SUCCESS

Posted on July 12th, by Scott Creamer in PLAY. Comments Off

Screamer Co. Six Party was a great success. Along with the celebrating six wonderful years in the industry, the Scream Team also unveiled our sixth Annual Art Book featuring collaborative works from artists all over the world. Festivities included interactive art, swag giveaways, photography by uLOVEi, and music by Holiday, Exploded Drawing, and Wabi Sabi.

Check out some of uLOVEi’s party pics here.

Our intern, Colton Branscum came up with a great idea for this year’s interactive element: a hodge-podge of yarn and a massive pegboard all intended to promote contact and creativity for our party guests. Thank you to all the fine folks who came out to celebrate. Special thanks to our sponsors: Independence Brewing, Prometheus Springs, TWG Plus, and Pecan Street Rum.

UNTIL NEXT YEAR!

It’s that time again. When interns leave the nest and spread their wings to fly. Special thanks goes out to Colton Branscum and Drew Lakin for their hard work. All the best wishes to you guys and come back and hang with us when you can.

Celebration will ensue

We’ll go ahead and add this to the things to celebrate at our upcoming Summer Six Pack.
